The county’s Health Care Agency will receive nearly $2 million to fight the H1N1 virus.
The funds come from the federal government, but are part of a $7 million agreement with the California Department of Public Health for emergency preparedness approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.
David Riley, director of the Health Care Agency, said roughly 500,000 doses are in Orange County, and the focus is still on targeting high-risk patients. Information: 800-564-8448 or ochealthinfo.com
“We’re well short of what we need to serve all those in the risk group,” Riley told the board.
Specifically, the $1.9 million covers the county’s H1N1 vaccination program, lab testing and epidemiological tracking of flu cases. The county has run five public vaccination clinics and is taking appointments for pregnant women and children with chronic illness. HungryPiggy, I’ll put the Kool-Aid down when you take off your tin foil hat, lol! Happy Thanksgiving!
Right now they are only doing pregnant women and children with chronic illness. When are they going to do adults with chronic illness? They are high risk too.
If this is the best our Government can do, than the hell with them. REVOLT and vote NO on everything.

A coworker has gotten his daughter vaccinated with the FluMist because she has a medical condition. They said she would need another dose within 30 days to make it fully effective. 30 days is approaching and now no doctors in his area have any vaccine left to provide the second dose. If too much time passes, the doctors say that the first dose will become useless and two more doses will be required.
Some places are giving it out for free. Others have none. Some will give it out for a price. What a mess/scam/farce/etc.
You can tell your co-worker to make an appointment at Coastal Kids. They are accepting insurance and taking kids from other practices. Here’s the info: http://www.coastalkids.com/h1nivaccination.html
Hope that helps.
